Red Scorpions Chaplain

It is time to post something again, and what better opportunity to do so than when providing my assault squad with some proper spiritual guidance?

Enter the Chaplain!
This model features a few conversions:

• Deathwatch Chaplain was used as the base model;
• Bolt Pistol was replaced by a Plasma Pistol from a Space Marine sprue;
• Jump Pack was picked up from the bits bin at my local store (presumably it was a Dark Angels or Blood Angels jump pack).

The Deathwatch Chaplain blister also had one of the new 32mm bases, in addition to the normal scenic base included with the sprues, and in order to have the fitting terrain effect I had to grind down some of the scenic base with a Dremel.
Needless to say, my workspace smelled of molten plastic for a while 😖

I already played him in a few games and his support in the Fight Phase is truly invaluable, so he will continue to play an important role in the upcoming game of my local store's WH40k campaign.

Red Scorpions Primaris Apothecary

Yet another addition to my growing Red Scorpions army.
The Chapter needs Apothecaries to stay true to their motto, strength in purity.
So I thought I'd give the new Primaris Apothecary a chance to join the ranks.

Really didn't like doing all the white parts, was a real pain to keep clean and tidy, but in the end I'm satisfied with the overall result.
That armor will definitely stand out on the tabletop. Hopefully not too much... 😌

Dragonslayer Ornstein & Executioner Smough

Back when the Kickstarter of the Dark Souls boardgame was announced, one of my friends decided to participate and back the hell out of it. I am afraid to actually ask how high his pledge was, and how many backer rewards came with it...

I promised him that I would paint one of the bosses out of all the miniatures, and left him the choice of which one. The decision fell onto the Dancer initially, but Steamforge Games changed the pose of the model later during development, so the miniature ended up looking so weird, the cool factor dropped by like 400%. We had to come up with a different choice of bosses, and the only other boss in the box is the iconic duo of the Dark Souls franchise: Ornstein and Smough.

Mostly a speed paint job using airbrush and a heavy amount of wash mix, I nonetheless believe they will make a memorable appearance each time they will appear on the board.

Meet the Chief Librarian of the Red Scorpions 😃

Ever since Forge World published the Badab War books during the 4th edition of WH40k, which also contained the Siege Vanguard army list, this model has been gathering dust in one of the "to do" boxes in my man-cave. I just never found the motivation to build and paint him, because I had completely lost interest in the WH40k game as a whole (some of the rules and policies GW pushed during 5th and 6th edition were questionable).

That is, until the release of the 8th edition last year, and the Primaris Marines which I fell in love with. Recently my local game store decided to run their own WH40k campaign, and I decided to pick him as my Warlord just so I could give the Librarians some love.
They don't seem to get much, it at all, and I don't see Space Marine Librarians that often.
